Research
The importance of ASID’s research cannot be underestimated.
In a life-time a Doctor who sees patients might impact 10,000 people's lives. And while that is significant, cutting-edge research is where you really can change the way we practice medicine. The result of good quality research means we could positively impact the lives of 10 million or more people.
And because infections affect everyone, from newborn babies to the very elderly, we must address infectious diseases across an entire lifespan. This means, the research ASID does is vital. It leads to better health care through the prevention and treatment of infections. At some point in their life, everyone benefits.
Education
An informed membership equals an educated workforce to deliver improved public care.
We understand that a key role for ASID is to help educate the next generation of infectious diseases experts. Through our education resources we support members to enhance the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases now and into the future.
Our special interest groups do the heavy lifting in furthering our knowledge on a broad range of infectious diseases topics. Our commitment to continual learning is key to providing better health outcomes for all.
Advocacy
Our responsibility is to ensure people get trustworthy evidence-based, expert advice.
ASID’s advocacy work has never been more important than now. In a world where misinformation is almost the norm, it’s vital to have an independent peak body to keep the public informed. Covid has taught us the need for rapid communication and the importance of having a trusted voice communicating reliable information to combat misinformation.
Our evidence-based work means we can help government make properly informed decisions. We are the specialist organisation that helps guide infectious diseases treatment, prevention, and vaccine policy.
