You’ve heard of Dancing With The Stars…

But what about Dance Your PhD?

In a first, the 2023 ASID ASM in Adelaide included a dance competition Dance Your PhD where ASID members explained their research through song and movement.

It’s a fun and effective way to explain often complex research and we applaud their creativity.

Dr Archana Koirala (left) was awarded the Grand Prize and received her award from ASID President Prof Katie Flanagan at the ASM Gala Ball.

My research revolved around children and the impact of COVID on their health, schooling and wellbeing and so working with children to create song lyrics, dance and ultimately the video was both empowering for them and an absolute delight for me. A PhD can frequently be overwhelming and this opportunity allowed my supervisors, colleagues and I to relax and have a little bit of fun. I feel honoured receiving the award and thank ASID for the chance to showcase my work in such a creative manner.
