ASID celebrates establishment of the Australian Centre for Disease Control
The Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID), President Professor Joseph Doyle welcomed news that Parliament had passed legislation to establish the Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC). “ASID is committed to working with ACDC and the new Director general to advance protection and response to infectious and communicable diseases in Australia and our region.”
From 1 January 2026, the CDC will commence as an independent agency, providing national leadership in disease prevention, preparedness and response. ASID looks forward to its ongoing support and collaboration with the Australian CDC.
