Incorporating Infection Prevention and Control into the Australian Centre for Disease Control

The Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC) and the Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases (ASID), recently wrote to the Minister of Health, The Hon Mark Butler MP, encouraging the inclusion of Infection Prevention and Control into the Australian Centre for Disease Control.

As the Australian Government advances the development of the Australian Centre for Disease Control (CDC), both organisations strongly advocate for the formal and enduring incorporation of infection prevention and control (IPC) expertise as a core function within the CDC’s structure to provide national, unified guidance for IPC in healthcare, residential care and community settings.

ACIPC and ASID stand ready to support the establishment and operation of a CDC that is inclusive, nationally coordinated, and grounded in technical excellence.
